Theatre Labyrinth workshops are specifically designed to open new perspectives and techniques for performers, and to offer a clear understanding of how to apply these techniques to all styles of theatre. Converging Techniques This intensive 3-10 day training session strives to expand participants' possibilities, both on the level of technique and on the level of personal art. Workshop participants investigate three lines of work essential to Theatre Labyrinth's creative process: physical training of the body; songs & voice; and development of story. Participants are led to investigate individual artistic resources and develop concrete ways of communicating these resources through performance. Mind Into Matter A 1-3 day workshop for beginning actors offers an introduction to the modes of creativity explored and utilized by Theatre Labyrinth. Mind Into Matter leads participants through simple exercises to develop physical awareness, explore & expand possibilities of the voice, and encounter new artistic processes. This workshop is ideal for anyone interested in tapping personal creative sources. The Wheel of Performance - Lecture Demonstration This four hour lecture/demonstration explores Theatre Labyrinth's unique collaborative process. Utilizing fragments of Theatre Labyrinth's performances in various stages of creation, this lecture/demonstration seeks to chart the journey from sources to performance. A Layperson's Guide This ongoing and evolving series of lectures, demonstrations, and discussions provides a forum for exchange between audience and artists. Often offered as an after-performance event, the Layperson's Guide seeks to create a sharing environment where the themes of a performance may be discussed in very personal ways. Such exchange serves to enrich the spectator's experience of alternative performance and provides important feedback for the artists. A number of local scholars, theatre professionals, and laypersons have joined Theatre Labyrinth in leading this program, creating cross-disciplinary exchange.
